Who managed to snag one? What do you expect it volition be similar?

What practice you think virtually titanium razors in full general?

From what I tin tell, they went live at nearly 1pm, and sold out by 1:30pm. I managed to snag one before they were all gone.

Congrats on grabbing one. I didn't even get notification that I'd signed upwards for some days ago. Did you become notification, or just happened to notice the "add to cart" was active?

I never signed up for one and was not intending to become one. The Infant Polish is an fantabulous and efficient razor, just was also very light because of the aluminum construction. I saw the TI version equally being also very light but at twice the price. No doubt, there is an entreatment of getting a TI razor for under $100, as the simply other all TI razor on the market right now is the Paradigm at Bullgoose for $400. I was more interested in the MJ-90 since it was an "improved" version of the R89. AND, I volition exist refreshing my screen every thirty seconds once RR announces the new Mamba.

Still, I wait a shave report on the TI Infant Polish.

I really randomly went to the page afterwards remembering that RR posted on instagram that they'd continue auction in "the next few days" and just somehow caught it right as it went live, I recollect a minute or two past 1pm.

I haven't received whatsoever email notification.

I volition probably also grab ane of those 316L steel Mambas in one case they become live, if I become lucky over again...

The baby smooth is a adept razor. Not my all-time simply it'south a decent balmy shaver. I hope you enjoy yours.

About Titanium razors, I don't know what to retrieve of them. I hear they are light.

  • #6
Ti in weight falls betwixt Aluminum and steel. The Baby Smooth is two.3oz, roughly the weight of the Merkur Hd so I wouldn't call it lite, definitely lighter than SS though.

Regarding Notification emails. They are sent in the order received. For example: if there are 500 people on the electronic mail notify list and we put 100 razors in stock, the get-go 100 people become an e-mail. Person 101 then moves into first position. If afterwards a number of hours, there are nevertheless razors left, notifications are again sent out and counterbalanced with stock that is remaining in inventory. With the former system, if there were 500 people waiting and nosotros put 24 razors in stock, all 500 emails would exist sent and there would exist mass panic trying to buy 24 razors, I believe the new system is improve but still not optimal. Optimal would be balancing need and supply perfectly but that is difficult because of investment and time constraints. Besides, almost people that sign up for notifications don't really buy so information technology's not a truthful indication of demand. Hope that helps a bit.

I had one in my cart and at check out, I received the out of stock notice. I did not think Italian Barber worked that style. I was upset for nigh 2 seconds afterwards realizing that I was only ownership the razor because it was Ti, not because I needed another razor. I'k not even certain it is a great shaver from the mixed reviews of the prior versions. I was just caught upwardly in the hype. I hope it is skilful, I will probably give in to my curiosity in the future, and I am disappointed in websites that don't protect items in your cart while you pay. Like shooting fish in a barrel come easy go...

I had one in my cart and at cheque out, I received the out of stock notice. I did not think Italian Hairdresser worked that way. I was upset for about ii seconds after realizing that I was but buying the razor because it was Ti, not considering I needed some other razor. I'm non fifty-fifty sure it is a bully shaver from the mixed reviews of the prior versions. I was simply defenseless up in the hype. I hope it is good, I volition probably requite in to my marvel in the future, and I am disappointed in websites that don't protect items in your cart while you pay. Easy come easy go...

It's not just Italian Barber. Had same matter happen to me at WCS. Had a brush that went out of stock at checkout. Not a big deal, but a bit of a pain.

I already own the more recently released aluminum baby smooth, and quite like it. the shave is definitely on the balmy, but efficient side. It gives me more rope to hang myself than others such as the standard razor or Merkur 34HD. Pocket-size gripes I have virtually it are transmission adjustment of bract alignment every bit well as the blade tabs being exposed (and communicable my ear lobe) as a necessity to align the blade. Additionally, aluminum is a softer metal, so anytime it will eventually fatigue and the threads will be damaged or the postal service might snap off altogether.

From th aluminum version, it seems similar Joe over at Italian Hairdresser addressed every one of those gripes I had. Information technology looks similar the Ti version of the baby shine has more than precise machining which allows them to build the posts a bit larger in diameter and drill the holes for a better fit and finish to get a perfect lock down of the blade every fourth dimension. On meridian of that, aircraft grade titanium (grade 5) is in the aforementioned ballpark every bit steel in regards to strength, but beats out the 303 and 304 alloys on corrosion resistance (Titanium is extremely resistant to corrosion), but is for practical purposes on a level playing field to 316L steel in the corrosion territory.

The big differentiation of form comes downwardly to weight. This makes a big difference to me personally considering I'm a caput shaver, and whatever razor above iii oz. is just too unwieldy and/or aggressive for the thinner skin on the scalp. Based on some enquiry I've washed, here are the projected baby smooth weights using different metals:

7075 Alum (.102 lb/in^iii density): 1.xxx oz. actual weight
Form 5 Ti (.160 lb/in^iii density): two.xxx oz. actual weight
316L Steel (.289 lb/in^iii density): 4.15 oz. projected weight

In the above weight measurements and projections, an important thing to note is the difference in size of the halo handle between the Aluminum and Ti version of the Baby Polish. RazoRock appears to exist using the same halo handle that they recently paired with the Wunderbar slant head, which when held next with the aluminum Infant Smooth handle, appears to have a bit of a larger diameter. If dimensions were created equal, the Class 5 Ti Baby Smooth should have come up in at 2.03 oz.

Bottom line, this is nevertheless going to be a lighter than boilerplate razor, and nevertheless essentially lighter than a steel razor built to the same dimensions. I've been salivating over this particular razor when it was appear that a Ti version was being manufactured. Between the Ti Baby Smooth and the 316L head Wunderbar on the Ti halo handle, I may never need to buy another razor again as long as I live. Who are nosotros kidding though, the next new and improved thing out there is probably going to accept my ear!

If I ever get back to Niagra falls I wouldn't listen stopping in there but their aircraft is mode to slow for me. It took over a week for an order to make it 300 miles and imo the rates were outrageous.

Ti in weight falls betwixt Aluminum and steel. The Baby Polish is two.3oz, roughly the weight of the Merkur Hd so I wouldn't telephone call it light, definitely lighter than SS though.

2 to 3 oz. is a nice weight for a razor in my view. My Gillette NEW LC is ii.2 oz. and falls nicely to hand. But lite weight doesn't necessarily brand for a meliorate razor. Some super lightweight bakelite or aluminum razors feel as though they want to skip over my beard. And in that location's a betoken at which a razor can be too heavy for some to use hands, because they lose a certain maneuverability.

Just stainless steel doesn't have to mean a heavy razor. It'due south less dumbo than brass, so if you designed a SS razor based on the NEW, it'd weigh in that 2 to 3 oz. range. Ikon stainless steel heads are pretty light. And stainless steel razors don't have to be expensive, as WCS and Fendrihan take demonstrated. I think in that location would be a marketplace for a mid-weight (~2.5 oz.) stainless steel razor in the $50 range. If such a razor is possible, I don't see the point of focusing on titanium every bit a razor fabric. What you're getting with titanium is potent, low-cal, and corrosion resistant (and an insanely loftier melting bespeak). But information technology comes at a cost. I would retrieve 1 could achieve the aforementioned properties with stainless steel and a much lower cost.

Merely stainless steel doesn't have to mean a heavy razor. It's less dense than contumely, and then if y'all designed a SS razor based on the NEW, information technology'd weigh in that 2 to three oz. range. Ikon stainless steel heads are pretty light. And stainless steel razors don't have to be expensive, as WCS and Fendrihan accept demonstrated. I think there would be a market for a mid-weight (~two.five oz.) stainless steel razor in the $fifty range. If such a razor is possible, I don't meet the betoken of focusing on titanium equally a razor textile. What you lot're getting with titanium is strong, light, and corrosion resistant (and an insanely loftier melting point). But it comes at a price. I would recall ane could reach the aforementioned properties with stainless steel and a much lower toll.

I believe that it also comes downwards to balance of the caput. The magic of the Baby Smooth is the geometry, and unless you lot observe a way of hollowing it out, steel would make the head near twice the weight (encounter my post above near metallic densities). And as it relates to cost, $99 from RazoRock is at or better than just about every other steel razor manufactured. They cutting through the margins and operate a different business model over at Italian Barber. Regardless, why practice whatever of us choose any product when durability is in a higher place a sure level... simply patently preference for whatsoever number of subjective reasons :)

It's Course 2 not Grade 5 Titanium.

It'due south Class ii not Grade 5 Titanium.

The Halo handle for the Wunderbar was, and the handle for the Baby Smooth might likewise exist. However, RazoRock says "aircraft grade aluminum" on the listing, which would exist Class 5. The main deviation is that grade two is pretty much pure titanium and ofttimes used in medical device/implant applications. Grade 5 which is "aircraft course" alloyed and still something in the ballpark of ~xc% titanium. The rest is aluminum, vanadium, and any other trace additives to add strength to the alloy.

It was listed as 'Grade 2' Titanium in the vendors page earlier in the week.

It was listed equally 'Grade 2' Titanium in the vendors page earlier in the calendar week.

Whatever the case, the departure in weight and quality is going to be very minimal. The timing of this release could not exist more perfect for my cognition of the different grades of titanium. I spent concluding week shopping for titanium wedding bands and was very conscientious to make sure I was getting either a grade 2 or grade 5 ring.

Minimal indeed. I'one thousand sure you had fun shopping the bands. Reading upwardly on the different Titanium grades last nighttime was pretty cool. Sounds like a great material. Used for so many unlike parts. The aircraft commodity I read last nighttime was not bad.

I believe that information technology also comes down to balance of the head. The magic of the Baby Smooth is the geometry, and unless you notice a way of hollowing information technology out, steel would make the caput near twice the weight (see my post to a higher place about metal densities).

I don't know about that. Ikon makes a stainless steel caput that only weighs ane.1 oz. Fendrihan makes one that weighs ane.0 oz. The Gillette NEW LC head weighs in at 1.0 oz. and it's made of brass, which has a similar density to stainless steel. Beefier SS heads such equally the Timeless, ATT, and Rockwell come in at 1.iv, 1.4, and 1.7 oz. respectively. The weight of those SS razors is mostly in the handle, and SS handles don't accept to be made as heavy every bit they are typically made.

I do agree that at $99, the RazoRock is at a very good price point for titanium. My signal was just that you could get the there (weight, strength, corrosion-resistance) with stainless for less and accept the relevant benefits. Of course, you lot couldn't recycle it into a tactical fighter airplane.... And there is a coolness factor to titanium that is probably worth a little something.

I received the razor today. I just got done shaving for the first fourth dimension with information technology. Information technology's fifty-fifty better than I thought information technology would exist. Very balmy, as expected, merely the titanium gives it the perfect amount of weight and I find it is pretty efficient for how mild it is. Effectually DFS subsequently one WTG pass and one ATG pass.

I recollect I still prefer my Wunderbar, but this is very nice.
